Hobson's Choice

While I'm not going to obsess over the American elections like a lot of blogs (and I'm actually referring to US poker players' blogs not the usual suspects over here), I was pleased to see that Ralph Nader is going to stand again. At least now people have the option of registering their view that actually you guys all suck corporate cock. Of course he's not going to win, but that's not the point. The point is that if 3% becomes 5%, then next time 8%, then 10%, then maybe something might change eventually. And anyway, if you don't vote for what you believe, what's the fucking point ? Tactical voting is like being confronted by two rapists and saying "oh well you look like you might be a bit gentler, one second until I lube myself up" instead of trying to fight them off. Even if you get raped either way, at least you can keep a modicum of self-respect.

As for the argument that, as may well have happened in 2000, the 3% who vote for Nader may cause the whole country to be completely run by one particular corporate cock-sucker instead of another for 8 years, then doesn't that really suggest that there's something wrong with your electoral system ? The US is fucked IMO, from New YorQatar to CalifArabia as Megadeth would say [1]. Frankly I'll settle for any candidate who just leaves the rest of the world the fuck alone.

[1] Following last night's gig I am happy to report that Megadeth kick ass more now than ever.

In 2000 he polled 2.7%, and in 2004 0.38%.

Still, maybe he got some ranking points.
