I Hate To Say I Told You So

From this blog, February 2005 :

"Do you think the British taxpayer would end up in profit when the dust settled [on the 2012 Olympics] ? I know Atlanta made a profit but if there is one thing the Americans are good at, it's making a few $$$. Anyone who thinks we would do the same is advised to consider the Millennium Dome and the new Scottish Parliament building. I have no confidence that we can make a profit on the whole deal. No confidence whatsoever. "

And today : The budget for the 2012 London Olympics has risen to £9.35bn.

Just the four times what we were told when the bid was put in. So far. And in hindsight, allow me to add Wembley Stadium to that list of buildings. ty gg.

Online Tournament Action Action Action

There are a couple of tournament on Stars coming up that are worth having a look at ; on Tuesday Pokerverdict are kicking in $2000 to a $20 tournament, 1500 EST (I suggest you check on the day exactly when that is our time), here's the link. It's a little unclear but I don't think you have to have originally signed up through Pokerverdict to be able to play. I was able to register OK. If by any chance you don't have an account on Stars (unlikely but anyway) Pokerverdict will also pay your $20 buyin. Can't say fairer than that. Of course I am not recommending that anyone open an additional account on Stars just to take advantage of this (cough).

Also tonight on Stars they're guaranteeing $1.5 million in the Sunday night eggfest and even if that's met the field should be pretty tasty so I'm going to have a rare shot at this. 8-30 start tonight because of US summer time.
